So it snowed today, and a little bit last night I suppose.
I started my christmas shopping today. The mall was busy; full of people, probably doing the exact same thing as me. Every store I went into had their Christmas music soundtrack playing in the background, and kids were lining up to go and sit on Santa's knee.

The meaning of Christmas has really been warped over the years. I see that when I go to the mall. It's seems to be about giving, family, having the "Christmas Spirit" in our hearts. What exactly is the "Christmas Spirit" anyways?

Giving gifts, family, and even sitting on Santa's knee can all be good things. But that's not what Christmas is about.
Christmas is about Jesus. Celebrating his birth. That God sent his son so that we could be saved.

People seem so hestiant to even meantion Jesus on Christmas these days. Everything is about Santa, and presents, and Candy canes etc. In Nathan Philips' Square downtown they even changed the name of the Christmas tree to the "Holiday tree" because they were scared to offend anybody by using the word Christmas. What is up with that?

I just feel that this year we should focus on the real meaning of Christmas...
Jesus. Jesus should be our focus this season, and what he came to do for us should matter more than the presents we open on Christmas day.

i hear this every year (thats not a bad thing!). the first time i hear it was from maddy. she suggested we dont celebrate christmas at all. that frightened me. but maybe she just meant to get rid of everything we know to be christmas and just celebrate christs birth. im not sure.

hey tarajoy. I don't mean that Christmas shouldn't be about family and presents, and all that other fun stuff.. i just hate it that now people don't even acknoladge that Chistmas is the celebration of God's birth.. after all Christmas would not even be a holiday if it wasn't for Christs birth , so it's kindof funny (ironicly) that Jesus has become sort of less important during this season.. considering he's the reason for Christmas..

well, i like santa. but i don't think that i ever believed in him. it never made sense to me that a fat guy could fit down a little chimney. and i think that we should celebrate the fact that we can spend time with our families, and give and receive gifts, we just shouldn't let it overtake the celebration of Christ's birth.

hey i like santa... k i feel left out, but obviously it shouldnt take gods place, which it unfortunately has. all these commercials with santa and stuff but none with jesus and what christmas is. but wtv, we just have to stand what we believe and not let what christmas is now, take away what it really is. k well taht didnt really make sense, but i think u know what i meen.

and what u said about the "holiday tree" GRRRR. that does make me mad. like how thaty shange "christmas holiday" or "christmas break" to "winter holidy" at skools. at my brother's elementry skool theres a grade 2 teacher (i had her in grade two also...bak in the day---by the way, shes a christian). she always starts a choir at the skool and does christmas carols and stuff. but the skool told her that she couldnt do songs witht hem that said God in them. and she refused so she sort of just didnt care and broke the rule. but at performances, she does songs that dont say God, cuz parent will get mad. o yah she has to perform them at the "holiday concert" (not the "christmas concert".
