The Pursuit of Teen Girl Purity

Check out this Time Magazine article. I think these celebrations are really unique and special in today's culture.

"I don't feel like I need to seek a man. I will be found."

What do you think?

i think its great to see something going against the grain of culture today.. but about the actual event i'm not really sure what to think.

and about that quote you have..to me that just comes off as.. i really dont want to say lazy because thats not the right word - but kind of a lack of action you know. It sounds like just sitting back and letting things come.. which i don't agree with.

disagree with me please. :)
i want to see more of your point of view.

I like the idea of the ball because it shows the importance of fathers; how important they are to whom their daughters become. I wouldn't be who I am today without the help from my dad.

I think that men should pursue. That's why I like the quote. The girl isn't being lazy, she's just not being the culture forward feminist that everyone expects her to be these days. She's saying, "I'm trusting God to bring the right man into my life. I don't need to search out a relationship to feel secure in who I am." She's taking a stand and stating something that's important to her, and I respect that.

God created men and women very differently, and they perfectly compliment each other the way that God created them. I feel that for women to completely pursue a man it switches around the jobs.

I think that when I woman is being pursued she needs to then answer and respond to the guy. She can't just sit back and do nothing. But I do think that the guy should take responsibility for the relationship.

thanks kirstyn.
your really clear with your opinions, definitely a good thing.

Maybe its just a subject i need to do more thinking on. Its tough to know when to persue/ when you are ready to pursue though - that is something i've thought about.

yeah, i don't what i think about the actual balls either. i think i'd actually have to go to one to make a conclusive opinion. but, i don't think i'd really to go to one in the first place... so...

but... kirstyn. I agree with this: "I think that men should pursue." and I think that if you talk about the quote in the context of this: "'I'm trusting God to bring the right man into my life. I don't need to search out a relationship to feel secure in who I am.' She's taking a stand and stating something that's important to her, and I respect that." I think then, the quote is dead on. It did strike me a bit funny though when I first read it, but when you put in context like that, I totally agree. :). I want to say more, but not on here, so, I'm done.
