Don't you know it doesn't have to be boring?
Don't you know it's not all about rules?
Don't you know that it's about forgiveness not the opposite?

I've experienced it, yet I can't explain it.
I've seen it but I can't show you.
I know it to be true, but I can't force it upon you.

The only way you'll understand is if you experience Him too.

Want...
more than what's been placed in front of you.

Because this is only the beginning.
There's so much more.
It's there for the taking.. so reach out and take it.
Experience it for YOURSELF!
I dare you...

Wonder

Last night I went to youth. I'm starting to really enjoy the youth group at warden. I think it's because of the fellowship, and the time spent with some of my best friends, or because of the worship, the group prayer, or the little topic that Pastor Mark speaks on every week, but it's definately become a weekend pick-me-up. I look forward to it so much because it renews me, it allows me to shake of all of that stress, and worry that has accumulated during the week. There is something about spending that time focusing in on God with people that you like that just is "cleansing for the soul" haha... if I may say.

Anyways, with that said. This week Pastor Mark had a really good message. We took the time to go through Psalm 19 in the bible.

The Heavens tell of the glory of God.
The skies display his marvelous craftsmanship.
Day after day they continue to speak;
night after night they make him known.

They speak without a sound or a work;
their voice is silent in the skies;
yet their message has gone out to all the earth,
and their words to all the world.

The sun lives in the heavens where God placed it.
It bursts forth like a radiant bridegroom after his wedding.
It rejoices like a great athlete eager to run the race.

The sun rises at one end of the heavens
and follows its course to the other end.
Nothing can hide from its heat

And as Pastor Mark was talking about just realizing the wonder of God by just looking around us, that last verse just popped out at me.
When David was writing this Psalm, I don't think he was just describing the sun; how it rises and sets every day. But I think he was referring to Jesus and his faithfulness. Nothing can hide from HIS heat. In other words, We can't hide from Jesus. He's always there, with us. It's wonderfully reasuring.

Just a thought

The Devil wears Prada?

I know that this post might offend some people, and that most people won't agree with me, but hey this is my blog.

Annnyways, after that note

This weekend I slept over at my best friends house and we hung out last night and all day Sunday. I went to her church in the morning, then we went out for lunch with some of my other friends and then went back to her place.

On saturday night we rented the movie "The Devil Wears Prada" I've been wanting to see that for quite sometime now. And I must say, after watching it I was extremely dissapointed. I thought It was so shallow.
This is why.

  • They treated the fact that she was living with her boyfriend as if it's the most normal thing in the world. As if it shouldn't be questioned, as if there's nothing amiss with the whole deal.
  • After working for her boss for a while she realizes that her boss is really synical and nasty so she comforms to please her by losing wieght, and dressing in the latest fashions (there's nothing wrong with looking good and there's nothing wrong with clothes, but I didn't like how the movie made that more important than her integrity, and staying true to yourself and who you are)
  • Speaking of integrity, as the movie wore on, she lost all of hers. She slept with this other guy, lost all of her friends, made her job the most important part of her life.
  • And then when she finally realized she messed up, she came back to her ex-boyfriend and said, "I'm sorry" and just like that he forgave her and was like, "It's alright" - Now we should forgive people, because God says to forgive as Iforgave you, but sometimes because we're human we don't always act like that, and when we say we're sorry we're not being genuine. (so it wasn't realistic)
Anyways this is my opinion. After watching this movie I almost felt like I should have shut it off and not finished it, because in my opinion, it wasn't worth seeing. God tells us to Gaurd our hearts, and our minds. To steer clear of all unrighteousness.

I guess my point is is that we need to be aware of what were watching, of what we're allowing into our hearts, into our minds and souls. Is it God glorifying? If not, then maybe we should think twice.

Love is the Reversal - Starfield

Welcome to the worldwide train wreck
Welcome to the come undone
Welcome to the big rejection
Welcome to the hit and run
Where mercy cries for everyone

I believe we're underwater
I believe the engine's blown
Yeah I believe our secret longings
Tell us that we're not at home
But grace reclaims what the world disowns

Yeah, nothing here's as good as it should be
'Cause this is the rehersal
Yeah, in between the was and the could be
Love is the reversal

Christian?

I was just watching a show called "Wife Swap". I've watched it maybe 2 times. It's not terribly interesting, but this episode caught my eye. Anyways, In this show they pick two families, and the wives in those families switch places for 2 weeks. On the first week the wives have to abide by the rules of the family that they are staying with, but during the second week the wives can make any rules, and any changes to the family that they want to for that week.

In this episode the first family were evangelical Christians. The parents did not let their kids date, or go out with friends. The mom would pick out the clothes for her children every morning. And they believed in a "man law" where women stay at home cooking and cleaning, and men go out and work. And there were countless bibles and Christian paraphenalia scattered around the house.

The second family were proud athiests. The parents had countless tatoos, the wife had a shaved head. They had questionable pictures up in their houses, and believed in free expression which also meant that their kids can basically do whatever they please.

Now I found this episode interesting because I almost felt like the Christians gave out a bad message. It felt like their bibles, and their crosses and Christian posters actually held more significance than Jesus Christ and the their realtionship with him did. That along with not trusting their kids to make any decisions for themselves, and the fact that cleaning "is not a man's job" and I quote.

Although I didn't agree with all of the stuff that the athiests believed, and didn't agree with some of their lifestyles and morals I felt that they were right in many ways. I felt like they were good people. Nice, and friendly and If I may say in need of Jesus.

Now I don't know the lives of these people, and I don't know where their hearts are. So I could be totally wrong.

But I know that you can't force someone to believe in Jesus. Because if you do a wall will go striaght up, and they'll run far away. Away from anything that has to do with "RELIGION" and Jesus.

Jesus didn't isolate himself from the world because of sin. He went out, and had lunch with the lepers. He chatted with the prostitutes. He gave hope to the beggars.

Having a relationship with Jesus has to be a personal choice. It has to be more than religion. It has to be faith. It has to be time spent with him. It has to be love. It has to be believing that he is the way, the only way.

Jesus isn't in the bibles, Jesus isn't in the posters and the crosses and the churches. Jesus said that we are the church, the people are the temple. Jesus is in our hearts, in our lives.

He loves us

The New Year

My blog is acting wierd... I have no place to change the font, or the size, or the colour of my blogs anymore (I'm still figuring out why - so temporarily excuse the ugly font, size, and colour)

Anyways...

So, it's 2007. Do people that make new years resolutions keep them? I used to make them. Every year I would have a list of a few things I'd like to change in my life. But then I realized that when I would make those resolutions, I would only dissapoint myself, because by the 3rd week of January the changes I had decided to make in my life had been broken.
Sometimes I find resolutions funny. Almost as if we think the passing of a new year means that we need to smarten up, and that now we're going to finally do those things that we've put off. However, If we actually kept the resolutions we make then wouldn't our lives start to get better as the years pass by? Are resolutions made to be broken? And why do we only make them on new years? Why not make them in April, or September or any other time during the year?
Now, by saying this, I don't mean that I don't like when January 1st rolls around. I like the new year. It makes me feel good. As if I have a fresh start. I always get excited because I know that with every year comes new responsibilities and life experiences. I wonder about what God's gonna do in my life this year, how he's gonna change me and mold me into the woman I'm supposed to become. And how through those experiences I know and trust that I'm gonna grow spiritually, and continue to walk with God.
Anyways.. I guess these are the thoughts that I have on the new year.
That's all

"You're from Canadia?"

Hi guys...
So, My week in Florida has passed ever so quickly. Today is my last day here, and tomorrow morning were packing up the car and heading back to gold ol' Toronto.
The weather this week has been amazing. I even managed to get some colour while on the beach and down by the pool.
I've done some shopping. The best part about the malls here is buying clothes from stores that we don't have in Canada.
Lol.. I was in store called "DELIA'S" the other day and this really nice girl that worked there was helping me and stuff (getting a fitting room, finding sized, etc.) And she said, "Hey, I like those jeans that you're wearing, where did you get them." so I said, "Thanks :D, Garage". She told me she'd never heard of it, so I'm assuming that "Garage" is a candaian store. (Correct me if I'm wrong) anyways, so I said "You've prob never heard of the store because it's probably Canadian." and she's like, "Oh! You're from Canadia?" lol... yea.. well that's pretty much the end of the story. She corrected herself after she said it at least lol..
Anyways. Yea I've had an awesome time here this week. But.. I think I'm almost excited to get back to Toronto! I've missed all of you guys!
That's all...
p.s. I sat on the balcony right before midnight on new years eve, and I have got to say, American's go overboard on fireworks! The show I got (free of charge btw) was the best I've ever seen, it went on for hours... sweet
p.s.s. I'll get some pictures up asap.
